WordPress comes with a nice option for creating permalinks. Permalink is actually the URL structure of your post or page. Permalinks are important in the sense that permalinks helps to give structure to the site links.<\/h3>\n

The permalinks also helps in search engine optimization as the site is structured. This helps the search engine crawl your page quicker. There are various methods to change the permalinks in your site.  They are as follows.<\/h3>\n

1. Change the Slug part in your post or page<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In WordPress the word slug refers to the URL friendly part of your posts, page, category or tags. It is automatically generated when you create a new item.  For example, a post titled “10 benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach” would generate a post slug like 10-benefits-of-drinking-water-on-an-empty-stomach depending on which permalink structure you set.<\/h3>\n

Clicking on Edit button will allow you to change the post slug. This will help you in changing the permalink. Using a more SEO friendly permalink will be good.<\/h3>\n

2. Create Custom Permalinks.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Changing the permalink in the post will not change the structure of the permalink.<\/h3>\n

In this example the URL is<\/h3>\n

“https:\/\/naturalwellnessblog.com\/2018\/08\/05\/10-benefits-of-drinking-water-on-an-empty-stomach\/”<\/h3>\n

The Permalink structure for the URL is<\/h3>\n

“https:\/\/naturalwellnessblog.com\/2018\/08\/05\/sample post\/”<\/h3>\n

Suppose you do not want the year\/month\/day in your URL . In that scenario you can  customize the permalink<\/h3>\n

Click on Settings > Permalinks > Custom Structure to maintain your own custom permalink.<\/h3>\n

Permalinks for Categories and Tags<\/strong><\/h3>\n
